Hello, and Happy Memorial Day! This is a day where people gather together with family and strangers alike to share food, stories, and to make memories.

Many people are looking for a perfect side dish or appetizer for home made pizza, burgers, salads, etc.

These are perfect and so quick and easy to make, (especially if you have pre-made pizza dough available) they make the perfect appetizer for your get together.

On a side note, if you have pizza dough that’s home made you can skip all of the preservatives and artificial ingredients you find in store bought dough. Does that mean this recipe is healthy? I would say not really, but it’s healthy(er) than the alternative. By using fresh garlic, butter, and home made dough you can control what goes into it instead of relying on the industrial made stuff that is packed full of chemicals. Plus it will taste WAY better than pre packaged ingredients.

Ok, now for the gooey details…

Cheese. Garlic. Butter. More cheese. What could be better?

Better be careful with this recipe because it’s so easy to eat the whole thing! I may or may not have… (ok, I definitely did… 😉 )

This recipe is very easy to make, super quick, and guaranteed to impress! My picky husband even said “hmm…yeah, it’s pretty good”, which is the highest possible rating he will give (haha).

What’s inside?

  • Pizza Dough– The secret ingredient (shhh…). By using a pre-made pizza dough, you don’t have to make special bread dough just for this. You can use any recipe you’d like, but I use my own pizza dough recipe. Oh, and my pizza dough is gluten free, even though you’d never know it!
  • Garlic– This may seem obvious, but for the best taste, always always ALWAYS use fresh garlic. Garlic from a can just doesn’t cut it.
  • Butter– Butter is what enhances the taste and makes the bread nice and moist!
  • Mozzarella– This cheese goes inside the bread adding an even cheesier taste!
  • Parmesan– Nothing like a nice, crispy crust of parmesan sprinkled on top of buttery garlic bread!
  • Italian Seasoning– This seasoning gives the bread the most amazing flavor ever.

Obviously the garlic bread is the best when it’s eaten fresh out of the oven, but if you need to store it, wrap it in foil and keep in the refrigerator for a few days. To reheat it, place in oven and bake until it’s warmed through.

Great when served with a warm marinara sauce.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!

  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Category: side dish
  • Method: bake
  • Cuisine: american

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 serving Pizza Dough
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Butter
  • 23 cloves Garlic Fresh
  • 2/3 cup Mozzarella Shredded
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Shredded or Grated
  • 1/4 tsp Italian Seasoning

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 425°F
  2. Start with a pre-made pizza dough. Either find my recipe above (pssst…, it’s gluten free) or use your own recipe.
  3. Place the dough onto a pre-floured surface (either a large cutting board or a clean counter) and roll until the dough is relatively thin. A square or oval shape is best, as the dough will be folded over.
  4. Transfer rolled out dough onto a pre-oiled baking sheet.
  5. Mince garlic
  6. Heat a skillet over medium high heat, and once hot, melt the butter.
  7. Once the butter is mostly melted, add in the minced garlic and sautee for 1-2 minutes, or until garlic becomes aromatic.
  8. Transfer the melted butter and garlic onto the dough and using a pastry brush spread the mixture evenly over the dough (NOTE– save a little of the butter to brush onto the top of the dough once dough has been folded over).
  9. Place the mozzarella over half of the dough
  10. Fold the dough over halfway and pinch to close.
  11. Brush saved butter over the top of the dough.
  12. Sprinkle desired amount of parmesan onto the dough (you don’t have to use full amount).
  13. Sprinkle desired amount of Italian seasoning on top (again, you can use less or more of the above mentioned amount).
  14. Place baking sheet into preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is a golden brown and cooked inside.
  15. Using a pizza cutter cut the bread into desired size.
  16. Serve with a warm marinara sauce and enjoy!
