This “nut butter smoothie” is my version of the classic peanut butter smoothie. I used to work close to a smoothie place and I would go there all the time on my breaks. After trying a lot of their smoothies I finally started ordering their peanut butter smoothie. It quickly became my favorite. Unfortunately after several years of being in business, they decided to close their store. I really missed having them close because it was a quick, convenient, healthy place to go. Obviously after they went out of business I was going to have to learn how to replicate it at home. Even though I think their’s is a little bit better, this one is still pretty amazing.
As far as nut butters go, personally I like to use peanut butter, but I call it a nut butter smoothie because any nut butter tastes delicious! You can also use any kind of milk, I’ve used cow’s milk and almond milk in this recipe and they both tasted great. It’s very versatile! I’ve used cow milk yogurt mainly, but lately I’ve been really liking cashew yogurt. I get it at Trader Joe’s and it’s amazing for smoothies without the heaviness that comes with dairy products.
What’s Inside Nut Butter Smoothie?
- Frozen Bananas– If you don’t have bananas that are frozen just use about 1/2-1 cup of ice instead. It won’t be quite as creamy, but it definitely works!
- Milk– You can use any kind of milk you’d like. I’ve used both cow’s milk and almond milk before.
- Yogurt– Any kind will do, I’ve used both dairy & cashew.
- Vanilla Protein Powder
- Nut Butter– I personally use peanut butter, but any will taste great.
- Honey
- Ice (optional)
How to Make Nut Butter Smoothie:
- If using frozen bananas, be sure to freeze bananas overnight.
