Classic chocolate chip cookies are so nostalgic. These are rich yet light and fluffy. Moist and chewy. They are sure to put a smile on anyone’s face!
Chocolate chip cookies are probably my most favorite cookie…ever. The flavor is so nostalgic. The richness of the cookies are so comforting and inviting. The feelings, flavors, and smell of these cookies will make everyone happy.
While I was taking a baking class a while back, I learned a secret as to how to get cookies to not only be extra moist and chewy, but also light and fluffy. It works ever single time. These cookies are perfect.
The secret is to cream the butter and the sugar (and later the eggs and vanilla) for an extended period of time. If you cream them for a longer time it makes the egg/sugar combo light and fluffy, and will also make your cookies light and fluffy too.
The key is to start out by creaming the butter and the sugar for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes add in the egg and the vanilla and cream it for an additional 7 minutes (it may seem like a long time, but trust me…).
After that you only need to mix the dry ingredients until they are combined, then fold in the chocolate chips. When they are finished cooking they will be absolutely perfect.
What’s Inside Chocolate Chip Cookies?
- Butter, unsalted
- Sugar
- Brown Sugar
- Vanilla Extract
- Eggs
- All Purpose Flour (I use this kind)
- Baking Soda
- Baking Powder
- Salt
- Chocolate Chips
How to Make:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a medium bowl, mix the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder together, set aside.
- You can use either a hand mixer or a standing mixer to cream the butter and sugar together.
- Place butter and both sugars into a large bowl (either a large mixing bowl or the bowl for the standing mixer) and mix together on low speed for 3 minutes.
- Stop the mixer and add in the eggs and vanilla extract. Scrape the sides of the bowl to ensure everything is mixed together properly.
- On medium to high speed, cream for an additional 7 minutes.
- Stop the mixer and add in the dry ingredients that you mixed together earlier.
- On a low speed/stir speed, mix together until combined, usually no more than 30 seconds.
- Fold the chocolate chips into the dough with a rubber spatula.
- Using a cookie scoop, scoop the dough onto a greased baking sheet, leaving enough space in-between each dough ball to allow for the cookies to expand while baking.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes.
- The cookies will probably not appear to be completely done when the time is up, but this is one of the tips for light & fluffy cookies, to take them out BEFORE you think they’re done.
- Leave on the baking sheet for an additional 1-2 minutes after taking them out of the oven.
- Move to cooling rack.
- Serve warm and enjoy!!
